Bryan Mukandi, PhD, MBChB, GCHEd, MA

Bryan Mukandi, PhD is a Lecturer on Medical Ethics at the University of Queensland. He earned his Doctor of Philosophy at the University of Queensland, and his Master of Arts with First Class Honors at the National University of Ireland in Galway. He also earned a Master of Arts degree from Queen’s University in Belfast, and a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree from the University of Zimbabwe. He is an academic philosopher, health humanities scholar and, once upon a time, he practiced medicine in a resource-poor, sub-Saharan African setting. His trans-disciplinary research aims towards gaining greater conceptual clarity around the well-being of people belonging to marginalized groups. The humanities are crucial to his work because of the creative possibilities, and maybe even the glimpse of freedom, that they offer.
